Track Online Payment Volumes As They Occur
This is a very cool site: the Chase Paymentech Pulse Index. This index tracks online shopping activity in the United States during the November to December holiday season. According to the site, payments generated by 10 of the nation’s 30 top Web merchants are monitored for payment transactions as they occur.
The index provides sales volume, transaction volume and analysis. So far, by eyeballing the charts (and according to their analysis), while the day to day pattern is similar, sales volumes appear to be up around 30% from the same period last year for this eCommerce index. Transaction volumes are also way up. A very neat application and use of online data - be sure to track the index throughout the season.
